Who is Steelmax Buildings?

Steelmax Buildings, Inc. is a new name but a proven company. We've been steel building manufacturers for two generations, responsible for more than 17,000 buildings from coast to coast. The company's corporate office is located in Adel, Georgia. Our buildings are used for a variety of applications: industrial, commercial, community, and agricultural purposes.

Do I need to get a building permit first?

When starting any construction project, including our prefabricated steel buildings, you should check with your local building official to see what permits will be required for your project. In addition to ensuring your building meets local codes, you may also need to provide drawings in order to get your permit. In some cases, those plans will need to be certified by an engineer.

Coastal areas require greater wind loads, Northern areas require greater snow loads — does the Steelmax Buildings' online design engine take that into account?

Yes, it does. Our system is extremely versatile with the ability to design buildings with wind loads up to 150 miles per hour and snow loads up to 100 pounds per square foot having the ability to adjust county by county. However, your local building code department is the final authority for your area. You will need to verify that your building conforms to local codes and zoning laws.

In what format are the drawings?

You will download an 8 ½ x 11" PDF file, in 300dpi resolution, that's ready for printing. Using Adobe Acrobat software, you will be able to expand these files to 11" x 17".

What if I don't have access to a printer, or can't print on 11" x 17"?

Contact us and we will immediately mail a copy of your drawings to you. You will also receive additional sets with your building delivery.

What if I need to have an Engineering Seal on my drawings?

No problem. You have a choice in 'Step 2' of the process to select an option to have your drawings and your design calculations stamped by a Professional Engineer certified for your state.

How do I purchase?

A 20% deposit is required with all orders. Payments may be made securely by using your credit card or e-check here on the Steelmax Web site. Although much slower, you may choose to pay your deposit by mailing us a personal check via the US Postal Service. The balance will be payable by a certified bank check when your building is delivered.

What does your price include?

You will receive a complete inventory of materials required for your new prefabricated steel building and requested accessories. You will also receive an Erection Guide and a final set of easy to follow erection plans when your building delivers. Not included are concrete, erection of the building, and interior work such as electrical and plumbing. Building permits and other fees are also not included.

Do I need a foundation for my building?

You will need concrete piers for the columns to sit on. Most people pour a full slab, but if you are using the building on a farm or ranch and plan to have dirt, gravel, or sawdust floors a pier system may be preferable. In these situations, a popular option is to combine piers with a concrete footing around the perimeter of the building.

Do you provide pier or foundation plans?

Yes! You will be given the option to have Steelmax provide your foundation design or you can have a local engineer do your foundation design. It's your choice.

Yes! You will be given the option to have Steelmax supply your anchor bolts.

Where do you ship?

Steelmax can ship anywhere in the continental United States. Your price includes shipping. On-site pick-ups are not an option.

How do I know the building I'm getting is the one I want?

Once you complete the process our isometric drawing will illustrate what your design will look like. So before purchasing your building, you'll get a thorough itemized description of your building and an isometric drawing of what it will look like.

What if I want to make changes after ordering?

While you can make changes to a prefabricated steel building in production this is often expensive. We encourage you to spend time with our design and estimating tool to determine exactly what you need.
